#CRYING OBSIDIAN PORTAL UPDATE#
Minecraft 1.21 update presents the developers with a good chance to overhaul the entire End dimension and bring it to life.įurthermore, a constantly reoccurring problem every Minecraft player faces is a lack of inventory space.

You would think it deserves a little more love and respect. It’s still a plain, mostly empty dimension with a couple of mobs, a structure with the most OP loot, and the literal boss of the game. This dimension has been kind of neglected by the Mojang team so far. However, that does not stop us from having our own ideas and speculating what the theme of the next update will be.īy far, one of the most asked-for updates in the history of Minecraft is the End Update. For this reason, Mojang will possibly take its sweet time with naming the Minecraft 1.21 update and focus on the features first. This was possibly an outcome of the community discontent mentioned in the previous section.

Minecraft 1.20 received its official name several months later. The last major update MC 1.20 didn’t have an official name when it was first announced back in October 2022. Minecraft 1.21 Name: What Is the Update Called Here’s a quick rundown of the recent update cycle: So, the Minecraft 1.21 update will likely release sometime in June 2024. And we expect the same pattern to continue with the upcoming Minecraft 1.21 update. So, with the Minecraft 1.20 update, the developers decided not to overpromise and underdeliver like the previous updates. Why the delay? This was, unfortunately, a result of community disappointment as a lot of promised features were canceled or delayed.

But that changed with the Minecraft 1.20 Trails and Tales update, which was released a year after the Wild Update, on June 7, 2022. So, as you can see, Mojang has been following a bi-annual update cadence for the previous few updates. The next major update, Minecraft 1.19 Wild Update was then released on June 7, 2022. These updates were released on Jand November 30, 2021, respectively. Therefore, it was split into Minecraft 1.17 Caves & Cliffs Part 1 and Minecraft 1.18 Caves & Cliffs Part 2. Minecraft 1.17 was initially supposed to be a massive Caves & Cliffs update, but it wasn’t ready for rollout on time. Minecraft is available now for Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.Before we jump to Minecraft 1.21, let’s talk about the previous update pattern for a second. Of these options, the most reliable method is to trade gold ingots with Piglins, but even this only affords a ~9.46% chance for 1 - 3 Crying Obsidian. It does require a diamond pick to mine, however, so players wanting to use it as a temporary structure will need to be sure they have diamond on them.Ĭrying Obsidian can be acquired in three ways: It can be found in chests in Bastion Remnants, obtained from bartering with Piglins, or found as part of the naturally generating ruined Nether Portal. This makes it the only block in the game that is both a light source and blast resistant. What's more, it has the same durability as Obsidian, so it can't be destroyed by Creepers, Ghasts, the Ender Dragon, TnT, and other explosives. Beyond this, however, Crying Obsidian has some other properties which make it useful for building.Īside from looking cool, Crying Obsidian actually gives off a light level of 10, meaning it can be used to light rooms or grow crops. Every time the player dies, one Glowstone is used up, and the player must continue to to recharge it by placing more Glowstone in it (it can hold up to four total). This block is used to allow the player to respawn in the Nether, but it must be charged with Glowstone blocks. By combining 6 Crying Obsidian with 3 Glowstone, the player can craft a Respawn Anchor. The main use of Crying Obsidian is as a crafting material, believe it or not.
